Cutting Young Gun - Tyler Hodgman
We are so excited to announce our newest addition to Team Wrangler/Twisted X, we’ve signed on the cutting industry’s young gun, Tyler Hodgman.
Tyler is a young professional cutting horse trainer, who resides in a beautiful part of the country – Pinkett, NSW. Following in his dad’s footsteps (Rob Hodgman), who’s been a professional trainer for over 30 years.
Tyler has fast grown to become one of the professional cutting horse trainers to watch, at such a young age, which is truly incredible. People would best describe Tyler as respectful and grateful. When we asked Tyler who had been his best influences so far, he replied definitely his father Rob Hodgman and none other than our very own Team Wrangler/Twisted X’s Heath Sinclair. Tyler said, “I’ve been around them growing up and they’ve shaped me into what I am today.”
This accomplished young man reflected on his most memorable moments so far in cutting, which would have been when he won the NCHA Open Futurity in 2020.
“It was my first aged event win and the first year I was training professionally, as well as winning on my mum’s horse.”
A fun fact about Tyler would probably be that he likes a good singalong, but he’s realized he’s a little tone deaf.
Our team here at Wrangler and Twisted X are always keen to support the next generation who are starting to pursue their career in the cutting industry. We like to give our professional riders the opportunity to offer some words of wisdom for their journey ahead.
Tyler’s advice is “Surround yourself with people that push you to be better. Not just in competing but in attitude.”
With western fashion trends being one of our main focus, it’s always interesting to hear people’s fashion ideas. Tyler’s best fashion tip was, “Don’t go with the flow, have your own style.”
We are excited to see what 2024 holds in store for Tyler and the team of show horses he’s campaigning this year, as the cutting show season has just started to kick off in full swing. We wish Tyler all the best!
