Leading Lady of Campdrafting - Kimberley Sammon
Kimberley Sammon needs no introduction, she’s a well-known name in the campdraft industry and a remarkably successful competitor.
Here at Wrangler, we are extremely excited to announce that Kimberley has joined our incredible line up of talented sponsored riders and welcome her to Team Wrangler/Twisted X. We took a moment to catch up with Kimberley for a chat.
Growing up on a 113-thousand-acre property and competing in her first campdraft at the age of 12 years old, has certainly cemented her passion for the performance horse & cattle industry. Her parents supported her dedication for the sport of campdrafting from this young age, carting her to many drafts, which led to a highly successful campdrafting career thus far and many Australian Campdraft Association National Rider titles on record. These include a Juvenile, a Maiden, two times Associate, a Lady and two times Runner Up Open National Champion Rider Titles.
Kimberley now resides in the scenic rim area in southeast Queensland with her partner and daughter.
Kimberley would best describe herself as a bit of a comedian, a tad headstrong, she says with a laugh; slightly OCD when it comes to anything horse related, polite, and prides herself on her loyalty. When we asked Kimberley who her biggest influences have been in the campdrafting industry, she replied “I’d have to say the whole campdrafting community as I’ve learnt so many great things from so many great people. If I had to narrow it down to just a couple, I’d say my dad, family and Pete Gesler.”
We wanted to know Kimberley’s most memorable moment competing so far, to which Kimberley responded “there’s been so many memorable moments for me over the years but a few that stand out are winning the Australian Campdraft Association Juvenile and Maiden National Champion Rider Titles in the same year and coming Runner Up Open Rider twice, running 2nd in the Warwick Gold Cup, winning the Warwick Ladies Draft twice and winning the Chinchilla Grandmother Clock."

Our team here at Wrangler and Twisted X always love to give our professional riders the opportunity to offer some words of wisdom to support the younger generations who are pursuing the sport of campdrafting in this instance.
Here’s what Kimberley had to say “Don’t let failure get in the way of your success, consistency will win you the most in life.”
When we asked for a fun fact about her, she laughed “I’m still scared of the dark.”
We’ve come to that point of the interview when we ask our sponsored riders for their best fashion tip, with Western fashion trends being our main focus to us here at Wrangler, it’s always interesting to hear riders' fashion ideas.
This is what Kimberley said when we asked her “Probably don’t ask me about fashion would be the safest but a good pair of Wrangler jeans and Twisted X boots will get you through anything, I’d reckon.”
For the remainder of 2024, Kimberley is hoping on lots of blue ribbons and a few thousand miles travelled.
