Q & A with Dave Worsfold
He has not one, not two, but four Australian Professional Rodeo Association Bareback Champion Titles on record. A proud family man and an incredible competitor, he has had an impressive rodeo career so far to say the least. We sat down with Dave Worsfold to hear how it all began and to find out what's in store for the remainder of 2023.
Wrangler (WR): How did it all begin for Dave, tell us the story of how you got into Bareback?
Dave Worsfold (DW): I was always interested in rodeo and first had a go at the St Brendan’s Rodeo in Yeppoon when I was 15 years old. That is all it took; I was hooked after that.
WR: How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
DW: Dedicated, Competitive, Hard Worker & Loyal.
WR: Who have been your biggest influences?
DW: That would be Brad Howe and Darryl Doyle.
WR: Most memorable moment in Bareback?
DW: It’s a toss-up between winning the Novice Bareback at the Calgary Stampede and winning my very first Australian Bareback riding title.
WR: Tell us a Fun Fact about you?
DW: I’m terrified of needles!!
WR: What advice would you like to give the younger generations starting out in Bareback?
DW: Go to a good rodeo clinic, set your goals high, put in the effort to practise, workout and give 110% every time.
WR: What is your best fashion tip?
DW: Ha-ha that’s easy, wear Wrangler!
WR: What’s coming up for the remainder of 2023?
DW: Try to win my 5th Australia Bareback Title.
