Q & A with Felicity Burton
Welcome back to the Wrangler Arena! We took a moment to catch up with owner & manager of Diamond K Performance Horses, Felicity Burton - the super mum who resides in Jondaryan, Queensland, with her husband and their three boys on their family property.
Wrangler (WR): How did it all begin for Felicity, tell us the story of how you got into Campdrafting?
Felicity Burton (FB): My introduction to cattle was by way of contract mustering. After a few years of experience in the paddock, I tried my hand at campdrafting and loved the challenge!!
WR: How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
FB: Motivated, Goal Setter, Willing Learner, Practicer of Gratitude & Determined
WR: Who have been your biggest influences?
FB: That’s an easy one, my husband, Karl!
WR: Most memorable moment in Campdrafting?
FN: I’d have to say placing 2nd in the Ladies Silver Cup at the Warwick Gold Cup Campdraft was pretty cool!
WR: Tell us a Fun Fact about you?
FB: I am petrified of public speaking but can teach at a campdraft clinic with my eyes closed, ha-ha.
WR: What advice would you like to give the younger generations starting out in campdrafting?
FB: Listen to advice from those who practice what they preach.
WR: What is your best fashion tip?
FB: A good, shaped hat is always classy.
WR: What’s coming up for the remainder of 2023?
FB: I’ll compete at a number of campdrafts in southeast Queensland, as well as sell at the Nutrien Supreme Sale in Toowoomba. I’ll compete in the Big Three including the Warwick Gold Cup. Also, I'll be taking part in the Dalby ASHS Sale and will hold a number of campdrafts and challenge clinics throughout the year.
