Q & A with Isaac Leclair
We caught up with the youngest member of Team Wrangler/Twisted X, Isaac LeClair, who loves living and rodeoing in beautiful Western Australia. The rookie cowboy competes in both Bull Riding & Bareback.
Wrangler (WR): How did it all begin for Isaac, tell us the story of how you got into Bull Riding?
Isaac LeClair (IL): Mum’s side of the family, being persuaded by my uncles to hop on a steer when I was younger, and I became hooked!
WR: How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
IL: Passionate, Spontaneous, Determined, Adventurous & Creative.
WR: Who have been your biggest influences?
IL: There are a lot of people I could list right now, so many people have helped shape me into who I am today and how I wish to conduct myself in the future. Two off the top of my head would have to be my Uncle Gerard and my good mate Peter.
WR: Most memorable moment in Bull Riding or Bareback?
IL: That moment would have to be our last national finals rodeo. Despite not placing, it was memorable for me having my mates and family behind the chutes to back me and support me at such an event.
WR: Tell us a Fun Fact about you?
IL: I have been playing the drum since I was about 9 and recently started picking up the guitar. Freediving is a great hobby as well.
WR: What advice would you like to give the younger generations starting out in Steer Wrestling?
IL: Be patient with everything, take your time in getting things right, results won’t happen overnight so enjoy the progress and the moment you’re in now. Also, remembering ‘Manners makes the man’ and ‘Who dares wins!’
WR: What is your best fashion tip?
IL: Shirt ironed and tucked in, and shoelaces done up!
WR: What’s coming up for the remainder of 2023?
IL: Lots of travel. Rodeo destinations are a bit hazy at the moment, but I will be getting around that’s for sure.
