Q & A with Tayla Pierce
Rodeo power couple Brad & Tayla Pierce and their young family have been hitting the road to rodeos and are having a great season thus far. We caught up with Tayla Pierce for a quick chat about her rodeo background & what's on the cards for the remainder of 2023. Here's what she had to say!
Wrangler (WR): How did it all begin for Tayla, tell us the story of how you got into Barrel Racing & Breakaway Roping?
Tayla Pierce (TP): I was so lucky to be born into a rodeo family, with both my mum & dad Australian Champions, it was only natural that I followed suit.
WR: How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
TP: Friendly, Goofy, Determined, Mother & Cowgirl.
WR: Who has been your biggest influence?
TP: My biggest influence as a rodeo competitor is my husband, Brad Pierce.
WR: Most memorable moment in Barrel Racing or Breakaway Roping?
TP: Winning the first round of the APRA National Finals Rodeo in 2022, was a feeling I will never forget.
WR: Tell us a Fun Fact about you?
TP: I enjoy playing netball for Cudgewa through winter in the off season.
WR: What advice would you like to give the younger generations starting out in Barrel Racing or Breakaway Roping?
TP: Keep going and don’t give up; seek advice or help from the professionals in your chosen sport. Love your horse first and the sport second.
WR: What is your best fashion tip?
TP: Wear what makes you feel good, not what anyone else tells you to wear. Don’t be afraid to be a little different.
WR: What’s coming up for the remainder of 2023?
TP: With the southern rodeo season wrapping up over winter, I will be traveling to some of the Queensland major rodeos, including Nebo, Cloncurry & Mt Isa.
