Rodeo Pick Up Man Legacy, Brendan Kelly
Wrangler is pleased to announce the signing of Brendan Kelly to Team Wrangler/Twisted X; we are excited to have Brendan join our fantastic team of sponsored riders. The Kelly name is renowned in the rodeo industry for their incredible talent as Rodeo Pick Up Men and the pride they take in the skill of picking up to keep all the cowboys safe in the rodeo arena.
Brendan Kelly is following in the footsteps of many Kelly’s men and picking up alongside his father Peter Kelly and his uncle David Kelly. Brendan said he’s been lucky enough to have grown up around rodeo since he was able to walk, so it was a natural progression for him to get involved in picking up. Brendan resided in the gorgeous region of Upper Horton, New South Wales. We asked Brendan to best described himself in five words, to which he replied "driven, reliable, positive, happy and fun".
Fun fact about Brendan? “I can’t sit through a scary movie.”
When we caught up with Brendan, we asked about him about his biggest influences in the rodeo industry and he’s credited his father, Peter Kelly and grandfather, Bill Kelly. Brendan’s most memorable moment is picking up alongside his father Peter Kelly at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, experiencing one of the biggest crowds you’ll see at any Australia Rodeo and, proudly representing the third generation in our family is certainly one to remember.
Our team here at Wrangler and Twisted X are always keen to support the younger generations coming up the ranks of the rodeo industry; we love to give our sponsored riders the opportunity to offer some words of wisdom for their journey ahead. Brendan would say “Don’t give up on your dreams! If you want to achieve your dreams keep working hard and never give up!”
We’ve come to that point of the interview when we ask our sponsored riders for their best fashion tip, with western fashion trends being our main focus to us here at Wrangler, it’s always interesting to hear the riders fashion ideas. When we asked Brendan for his best fashion tip, his response was, “Why settle for the rest when you can wear the best, dress yourself in Wrangler and Twisted X.”
In the remainder of 2024, we can expect to see Brendan out and about, picking up at some of the biggest rodeos in Australia.
